I'm very honored to be with all of you. Thank you for taking the time. This is an extremely exciting topic in dentistry, and I am gonna jump in in just a moment.
Little bit of background about me, fellow hygienist in the field twenty five years now, and I was lucky enough to become an office manager. And from there, started a consulting business and been able to really, take all of those learnings that I've been taught and have taught others and brought them to Pearl as the, director of clinical operations.
So it's really exciting to see, what's happening in dentistry.
And my goal today is that you leave realizing how effective AI can be for you in your daily workflow and to save your team some time. So I'm going to go ahead and share my screen and we're going to jump in and get started.
So today, I wanna cover a few topics. What is AI? We hear about it everywhere.
AI in dentistry, what can we do with that? AI chairside with our patients.
How is it helping us with planning, and what is the future of AI? We also wanna encourage you to state that there's gonna be a special offer at the end as well as, we'd love to hear some of your questions.
So what is AI?
Basically, there's computer systems that can help us with problem solving, making decisions, and all kinds of things that we're doing in a daily basis in our workflow, and you're gonna hear all about AI today. But most importantly, we're going to really make sure that we're cross referencing how we're going to use AI from a dental hygiene perspective.
One of my favorite things is when people talk about AI and they oh, it's the Terminator type of AI, and this is more of a generalized AI. This is what people think AI looks like.
We're going to really focus today on, how it's in how we're using narrow AI to really help with reading radiographs and streamlining workflows. So basic examples would be teaching robots on how to play chess. That's a little more our speed, and we don't have to worry too much about the Terminator coming anytime soon.
We use AI every day.
You probably are not aware of all of the times that AI is working throughout your day, with computer vision, in surveillance, in automobiles, natural language processing, you know, when you're using Siri, and also in all kinds of different ways for reminding us that, hey. There may be fraud on your account. So I want you to start to think about the helpful parts of AI, and we're going to move into how that's really helping us in dentistry.
So when we look at hit the history of dentistry and we look at where dentistry has been and where it's going, we can think about the days of when braces were a big thing, and now we have aligners, you know, where silver fillings were a great thing to do, and now we have composites. Fluoroid was great. The drill, implants, those are incredible.
