We just got some new software downloaded and it's very cool. Let me show you. For example, this patient. First glance, you'll probably notice the infection first. You're putting all your attention on this tooth, but if we just start adding a few things, you can see that's the caries. You can see the calculus being highlighted. How much bone loss. You can see the periapical radiolucency being highlighted. And likely you might have missed this one, but this guy's got something going on noticeably thanks to Pearl. And if you wanna teach your patients about the different parts of the tooth tissue like I do, you can show the nerve, the roots, the crown, the dentine, the caries. It's just fabulous.

Yesterday I had a patient of record come in with a chief complaint of a lost filling on the LL. She has no symptoms with this tooth, only that she gets a lot of food caught in this site. Her last recent visit with us was approx 2 years prior. I tipped her back and took a look clinically first. She did indeed have a filling come out of the distal of #19. With her approval, we took a PA and a bwx that would show us # 19. The decay/hole was very deep. I knew right away that she would need endo on this tooth before doing a crown. That can be a difficult conversation to have with patients when they are not having any pain. I pulled up AI and showed her X-rays. It wasn't until I clicked on "Tooth Parts" that it really clicked for her. She could see just a thin line of dentin that separated the decay from the pulp. This is just one example of how AI has enhanced patient communication in my operatory.
